At gallerytop we have developed a profile for showing limited edition prints by some of the UK’s most celebrated contemporary artists, including Sir Peter Blake, Sir Terry Frost, John Hoyland and Barbara Rae. We also work with Artizan Editions and London Advanced Graphics, presenting work by new emerging artists as well as well known artists such as Bridgett Riley and Albert Irvin. Consequently, we are delighted to be working with Leicester Print Workshop to host their exhibition called Small Print: Big Impression. Leicester Print Workshop has a passion for print and have assembled a showcase exhibition presenting the best in contemporary printmaking. Every piece is small, with no printed image larger than 100 sq cm (that is 10cm x 10cm, 5cm x 20cm etc) and the accompanying book provides full colour images of all the selected pieces. The Small Print: Big Impression exhibition was funded by Leicester Print Workshop, Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts programme and The Foyle Foundation.
We are celebrating the opening of Small Print: Big Impression at gallerytop by holding a drop-in workshop at the Level centre in Rowsley. You can explore dry point etching and creat one-off prints using line drawing, collage and inks. The exhibition opening and the print workshop are both on Saturday 3 September 2011 starting at 11.00. Call into the gallery to see the exhibition, enjoy a glass of wine, buy a unique print and unleash your creativity at the free workshop. For some real inspiration, all of the prints in the exhibition are shown below:
