Donald Hamilton Fraser RA (1929-2009) participated in many of the most significant exhibitons of British work, including The Royal Academy’s 25years of British Painting. His highly acclaimed work is owned and exhibited in collections and galleries worldwide. He was a Royal Academician and a trustee from 1995. His predominant subject matter was landscape. His work combines his Scottish descent and his affinity with French painting, which he developed during his studies in France in the 1950s. He would layer thick, bright paint with a palette knife to produce an almost collage effect. The landscapes remained close to their origins whilst forming abstract, almost dream-like fields of colour.
